Goals. Someone once said of them, "We all make them; we all break them."
What if the truth could be that we achieve the goals we set? What if we really could
lose the weight and lose it permanently? Well, that can be your reality!!!
Instead of finding ourselves setting goals to do the same things again and again,
to lose the same weight over and over, we can achieve every single goal! We don't
hit our goals because something comes against us - the Motivation Assassinators.
It's not because we don't know what foods to eat or not eat!
My favorite quote from Albert Einstein says, "The definition of insanity is
to do the same thing over and over expecting different results." If we're
not getting the results we want, we need to change the action, otherwise we're going
to get the same results we've always gotten. So if you haven't lost the weight
you want to lose yet... and you're still trying diet and after diet...
doesn't it make sense to at least consider stopping the thought that it's
about the food?
With all my combined experience, I have realized that people lose and gain, lose
and gain. Aren't you tired of losing and gaining, losing and gaining, losing and
gaining? Aren't you tired of setting out to achieve a goal and not achieving
it, then setting out again to achieve that same goal again, and not achieving it
again? Every time you sit down to write your goals, you write the same goals, yet
you're not achieving them. We can change that if we identify what stopped us.
Before losing my weight I felt fat and I had low self-esteem. I would have never
worn a bathing suit prior to losing my weight. Now that I have lost 52 lbs. I can
finally wear a bathing suit. I have a lot more energy. I am also a lot healthier.
I have yet to even catch a cold! I am down to one medication from originally taking
three! My family and friends notice how much more I can actually do with them. I
can play ball, ride horses...I cannot believe how much more I can do now.
I've gone from a size 20 to a size 10! I've lost over 97 inches with
this program. I can't believe I was able to enjoy pizza, chicken, fish, potato
soup, corn, meatloaf, taco salads, cheese, Doritos, and even macaroni and cheese
(just to name a few of my favorites)! The motivation throughout the program was
unbelievable. Every time I came in I received complete support! --Cathy Lauk,
Lost 52 pounds with Thin & Healthy
Having watched people lose and gain, I realized the reason had to be more than the
seemingly obvious. There had to be more to it than just the food these people were
eating. It had to be more than just one element.
I would see people so excited after enrolling in a new diet program or health club,
and they'd be so sure that "this time" they were going to do it, "this
time" they were going to achieve that goal. They set out with such great enthusiasm,
but a few days later the excitement was gone and the goal was no longer being pursued.
Maybe this has happened to you; I know it's happened to me. We look up and
wonder, "What happened?" The motivation left. We have good intentions,
and we have a good plan to follow to achieve our goals, but we don't realize what
comes against the motivation that stops it dead in its tracks. Just in case you're
not convinced that the secret to losing weight permanently isn't about the
food, read next week's article: Achieving Goals Isn't Just About The
Goal Itself.
Until next time, keep thin-king positively and powerfully!!!!!!!!!!!!
