If you have been feeling sluggish and can't seem to meet your weight loss goals it can be frustrating. Being tired all of the time can make weight loss plans frustrating. There can be several issues causing you to feel as though your tank is running on empty. This article is going to discuss some of the reasons you may feel sluggish and how you can deal with sluggishness.

What are the Symptoms of Sluggishness?

• Sluggishness can make you feel like you are ready for a nap when you wake up in the morning. Difficulty waking fully and a feeling of tiredness that looms over you constantly is one of the main symptoms of sluggishness.

• Having very little energy or feeling drained while you are up during the day is another symptom. You can feel as though you have no energy and just doing activities of daily living is as much as you can handle.

Having a 'blah' overall feeling and just not feeling like doing much most of the time even though you haven't done anything strenuous can be frustrating. Oftentimes this feeling is blamed on a lack of caffeine or an overstuffed work week. There can be many reasons for sluggishness and most can be easily addressed. Some examples include:

• Hypothyroidism can cause you to feel tired as your metabolism and body functions are slowed down due to a lower than normal amount of thyroid hormones in your body. This deficiency can cause temperature sensitivities, irregular menstruation, forgetfulness, fatigue and sluggishness. Blood tests can be done to discover this deficiency and supplementation can easily be done.

• Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Many people do not get enough produce in their diet. Increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables that eat is one of the easiest ways to increase vitamin content in your diet. Getting enough fiber and vitamins will help to increase your energy levels.

• Take a supplement. It is difficult to get enough vitamins and minerals from your foods. If you supplement with a good quality multivitamin you can boost your energy and give your immune system a boost as well.

• Exercise. Many people thing that exercising when you are feeling sluggish will make the condition worse, this isn't the case. If you aren't getting enough exercise you will become tired. Exercise helps to increase circulation. The increase in circulation will help to bring nutrients to your cells and give you a boost of energy.

It is frustrating to feel sluggish, especially if you are trying to get motivated to lose weight and take measures to improve your health. If you are feeling as though you are dragging you can implement some of these changes. If the feeling persists you can discuss it with your doctor and ask to be tested for hypothyroidism.
